DENTAL BRIDGE

A dental bridge is a custom-made restoration designed to replace one or more missing teeth. The bridge is securely anchored to the surrounding teeth or dental implants, giving you a natural-looking, permanent solution that doesn’t need to be removed like a prosthetic appliance. Most bridges can last many years with proper care.

Bridges are most commonly recommended for patients missing one or more teeth. They restore the fullness of your smile, improve chewing and speaking, and help prevent surrounding teeth from shifting or becoming crooked. For patients who aren’t candidates for implants or prefer to avoid surgery, bridges provide a reliable alternative.

Dr. Long will examine your teeth to determine if a fixed bridge is right for you. A bridge is typically anchored to two supporting teeth, though larger bridges may require implants to ensure a secure fit.

What to Expect at Your Visit

Getting a bridge usually takes two visits. During the first visit, the supporting teeth are prepared and shaped to make room for the bridge. Impressions are taken to create your temporary and permanent bridge, and a temporary bridge is placed to protect your teeth in the meantime.

During the second visit, the permanent bridge is fitted, adjusted, and securely bonded in place. Dr. Long will polish the bridge, ensure proper function, and provide instructions on brushing and flossing to maintain your new restoration. With regular care, your bridge can last many years while keeping your smile healthy and confident.
